Regular Board Meeting Highlights - April 3, 2018

April 3, 2018 - The Board of Trustees is pleased to share with all education stakeholders the highlights of our recent Board meeting held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. The adopted minutes will be available on our website following the next Regular Board meeting.


  • The Board approved the monthly financial report for the period ending February 28, 2018. As of February 28th, 50.77% of revenues have been collected for the year compared to 50.57% of expenses paid out to date resulting in total year-to-date deficit of $238,790.
  • The Board approved the Three Year Captial Plan 2019 - 2022 with the following priorities:
    • 2019-2020 – Year One
      • Priority One: Modernization of Spruce Grove Composite High School at a cost of $17 million dollars
    • 2020-2021 – Year Two
      • Priority One: New High School at a cost of $51.8 million dollars to be located in the Parkland School Division.
  • The Board approved a motion that included a recommendation to write a letter to Alberta Education, requesting that they consider granting a certain amount of autonomy to school boards, with respect to establishing diploma exam writing dates and, in doing so, respecting our firm belief that school boards are in a primary position to serve the best interests of their students and communities.
  • The Board received as information the Transportation Services 2017-2018 Department Report, as presented by Transportation Services Director Dennis Simcoe.
  • The Board received as information the Human Resources 2017-2018 Department Report, as presented by Human Resources Director Shae Abba.
